Dimetis Participates In End-to-End Workflow Solution At FKTG Symposium

DIETZENBACH, Germany, May 29, 2014 – Dimetis, (http://www.dimetis.de), a leading software supplier providing Operations Support System (OSS) solutions, today announced its participation in the FIMS (Framework for Interoperable Media Services) End-to-End Workflow solution, presented at this year’s FKTG (German Television and Cinema Technical Society) Symposium in Cologne, Germany in May 2014.

At the FKTG Symposium, Dimetis presented their BOSS FILE TRANSFER Manager® as part of a FIMS End-To-End Workflow in cooperation with IBM, Rohde & Schwarz DVS and Cube-Tec International. The End-To-End Workflow demonstration covered all areas of a typical production from ingest, to post-production, to Distribution. FIMS is a generic interface definition to connect hardware and software components in modern TV production environments. The generic interface definition approach provides many advantages for both customers and suppliers, as opposed to the necessity to implement proprietary interfaces for each single device or system. FIMS is a task force managed by the AMWA (Advanced Metadata Workflow Association) and the EBU (European Broadcast Union).

“We are very proud to be working with other industry leaders to perfect end-to-end workflows,” said Joachim Kniesel, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer, Dimetis GmbH. “We have spent considerable resources developing powerful tools such as BOSS LINK Manager® and BOSS FILE TRANSFER Manager® for the broadcast industry, and it is rewarding to see them in use.”

Dimetis also presented “Management of Metadata in Broadcast Services” in cooperation with the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences at FKTG. They demonstrated that it is now possible to harmonize metadata that is provided in different proprietary formats, and exchange metadata in a standardized schema. The current supported schema is BMF 2.0 developed by IRT, a subsidiary of the public broadcasters in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Implementations for other standards like the Dublin Core, MPEG-7, MPEG-21 will follow.
