Dutch banks introduce mobile payments

Leiden, The Netherlands, 29th of August 2013: UL is proud to announce that a mobile payments soft launch will be taking place from the 2nd of September 2013 in Leiden, The Netherlands, as we have been actively working with the Dutch banks for the past year to make this happen.

Yesterday the soft launch in Leiden was announced, it will introduce mobile payments to the public for a period of three months, starting this September 2nd. UL’s Transaction Security service line Advisory Services has assisted the initiative with preparing for this soft launch from the start.

Prior to the launch date, UL assisted the banks with strategic advice, test services and project management. UL contributed to an unparalleled payments experience for consumers and merchants by optimizing the wallet interface and carrying out detailed low-level performance optimizations. Because of UL’s coordinating role an optimal time to market and a smooth enrolment of the mobile payments project was achieved.

“UL is very pleased to be part of this initiative. As an innovative company we have been working with mobile payments for some years now and it is great to see one of the initiatives being launched in Leiden where our headquarter is located,” said Amos Kater, Manager of the Mobile Competence Center at UL Transaction Security and Project Manager of this project.

UL contributed to the project for over a year next to various mobile payments projects globally. Some other mobile payment initiatives UL’s Transaction Security is involved in are Isis in the US, Valyou in Norway and Weve in the UK.
