(LINKÖPING, November 23, 2010) – Agama Technologies, the quality assurance expert, today announces that Reggefiber, a major FTTH player in the Netherlands, has deployed the Agama DTV Monitoring Solution for its TV company ‘Glashart Media’ to ensure high TV service quality delivery across their nationwide optical fiber network.
As a result of a thorough evaluation of leading monitoring vendors during the past year, Reggefiber has selected Agama as the quality assurance partner in their open optical fiber network, to ensure the high level of service delivery quality that is required in today’s market. The recently deployed Agama solution covers Agama Analyzers for service quality monitoring in both head-end and strategic locations across the national FTTH network, as well as Agama Enterprise Server for central management and correlation, system-wide quality overviews, and alarm handling. Having all critical information all the time from every relevant service layer at every strategic monitoring point, allows Reggefiber to pinpoint problems in real-time, enabling efficient and proactive operation of the TV service distribution.
The head-end monitoring part of the delivered solution is Agama’s advanced head-end monitoring offer in its complete end-to-end quality assurance product line. Based on Agama’s Analyzer FLEX product, it enables comprehensive and profound analysis of hundreds of simultaneous video streams in a cost and space efficient way. Fully integrated with Agama’s Enterprise Server, it detects conditions such as black screen, freeze frame, macroblocking and audio silence, but also provides complete syntactic and semantic verification of all levels of the TV service.
“Our TV and video services that require high quality transport are rapidly increasing in our network. The Agama Analyzers and Enterprise Server provide us with a feature rich centralized monitoring system that allows us to assure the high service quality,” says Niels Jonkman, Director, Glashart Media. “We will now be able to more efficiently monitor our TV signals throughout our FTTH network.”
“I am pleased that Reggefiber, a pioneering and rapidly growing network provider, after an extensive evaluation has chosen our solution to support them in offering high-quality service transport,” says Mikael Dahlgren, CEO, Agama Technologies. “This deal further strengthens our position in the European market as the obvious choice for strategic TV service monitoring solutions – for Telcos and TV service providers, as well as for service carrying network owners. We look forward to continue to build upon this position, which we have achieved through providing technically strong tools that answer the business needs of all TV operators.”
The Agama Analyzer range provides real-time 24/7 service level monitoring of the delivery chain, monitoring hundreds of simultaneous digital TV streams from head-end to the edge device. Support for all levels of the digital TV service – network, TV stream and the video content itself, right down to pixel level – as well as monitoring of encrypted streams gives true service assurance. The Analyzer supports multiple metrics for DTV and both SD and HD MPEG-2 and MPEG-4/AVC video. By objectively measuring the perceived user quality through analyzing the whole DTV stack, the Analyzer can accurately judge the impact of any detected error on the viewer experience. In addition, network parameters such as IP packet jitter and packet loss are measured, which are important to be able to understand network Quality of Service (QoS). By connecting multiple Analyzers deployed at strategic locations across the distribution network to the Agama Enterprise Server, a complete real-time monitoring system can be created.
Agama Enterprise Server
The Agama Enterprise Server offers overall views of the DTV service quality, all the way from head-end to the customer set-top box, using the data from all deployed Agama Analyzer and Agama Embedded Monitoring probes. By correlating QoE data aggregated from the probes, the Enterprise Server shows the extent of any problem and its position in the distribution chain. The aim of Enterprise Server is to enable issues to be solved before they escalate; existing problems to be solved as quickly and as cost-effectively as possible; as well as providing management with the key performance indicators they need to ensure that their cable infrastructure is performing optimally. By providing advanced correlation and presentation functionality, the Enterprise Server makes it possible to arrange and aggregate the monitoring information from all Agama probes into the same view, giving an unprecedented instantaneous end-to-end overview of the delivered DTV service quality.
