DVMR and VOD Factory Power Fnac VOD service

DVMR, a leader on the IP-based video services market, today announced that VOD Factory, the French tailored VOD offerings provider, called upon their expertise to design a complete content delivery platform able to efficiently feed its CDN.
In order to provide its clients with customized, multi-screen, turnkey and cost-effective VOD and SVOD solutions, VOD Factory needed to implement an innovative solution, offering great downloading speed and content security.« We gave DVMR free rein to design a solution responding to our workflow automation, format and multi-encryption needs, » declared Sylvain Barthélemy, Technical Directorat VOD Factory.
Within a few weeks, DVMR’s Teams designed and developed a content delivery platform, which receives new content, transcodes it into MPEG-DASH format, adds a layer of Marlin, PlayReady or Widevine encryption, manages subtitles and delivers media streams to the CDN (Content Delivery Network). Being the first adaptive bit-rate HTTP-based streaming standard, MPEG-DASH emerged as an obvious choice. « MPEG-DASH adjusts video quality to the available bandwidth, thus speeding up downloads for subscribers and eliminatingfreezing risks, » adds Mourad Redouane, Co-founder at DVMR. « Furthermore, MPEG-DASH is supported by the vast majority of IT equipment on the market and a single video package has to be prepared and stored to feed a multitude of devices ».
In addition to designing the solution and supporting VOD Factory throughout its testing and implementation phases, DVMR delivers adequate day-to-day supervision of platform hosted in its premises.
