Delivers High Quality, Scalable, Broadband Communications with Minimal Upfront Investment

Israel, May 31, 2011 – Elbit Systems Ltd. announced the launch of InterSKY® VNO- S2 at SatCom Africa 2011, satellite communications conference and exhibition taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The InterSKY® VNO– S2 is a hybrid broadband satellite communications solution for Virtual Network Operators looking to expand and increase their network capabilities and capacity throughout rural areas with limited communication infrastructure.

Designed to take full advantage of DVB-S2 ACM broadcast efficiencies, the service enables ISPs to extend their own network without the substantial upfront investment required for building an independent teleport and HUB. Via a direct hybrid fiber optic/satellite link back to the HUB, Elbit Systems allocates a portion of the InterSKY® network to the Virtual Network Operations (VNO), together with full management control over users’ service level agreements. Highly scalable, VNO- S2 provides ISP and NSP sub-operators with a cost-effective growth path. As demand increases, VNOs located in the main HUB, through on-site VNOs located in specific countries, can seamlessly develop into full-scale broadband SatCom operators.

InterSKY®, Elbit System’s cutting-edge two-way broadband satellite communication platform is well positioned to offer VNOs a shared DVB-S2 ACM saturated transponder carrier via a world class teleport ground station.

The VNO-S2 solution enables VNOs to provide “single-hop” international level Internet, long distance services, and in-country local termination without increasing the cost of their customers’ VSATs. VNOs maintain control of network usage, hardware resources and quality of service levels. Currently available on satellites NSS10 and AMOS 5, VNO-S2 is the ideal solution for network operators seeking to deliver a next generation IP network to customers in areas where no terrestrial link is available.
