Singapore, 13 September 2011 – element14 (formerly Farnell), the first electronic component distributor that fuses commerce and community, today announced it will offer surface-mount capacitor and through-hole capacitor technologies from KEMET. This includes tantalum, ceramic, aluminium, and film and paper dielectrics among other solutions for electronic design engineers in the Asia Pacific region, further growing its inventory of over 130,000 unique components.
Capacitors store, filter, and regulate electrical energy and current flow of virtually all electronic applications and products used today. element14’s new agreement with KEMET further enhances its offering of innovative capacitance solutions with tremendous performance and reliability.

element14 will offer KEMET Power Solutions (KPS) Commercial Series stacked capacitors that utilize a proprietary lead-frame technology to vertically stack one or two multilayer ceramic chip capacitors into a single compact surface mount package. The attached lead-frame mechanically isolates the capacitor/s from the printed circuit board, therefore offering advanced mechanical and thermal stress performance.
A two chip stack offers up to double the capacitance in the same or smaller design footprint when compared to traditional surface mount MLCC devices. Providing up to 10mm of board flex capability, KPS Series capacitors are environmentally friendly and in compliance with RoHS legislation.
Capacitance change is limited to ±15% from -55°C to +125°C.
