March 20 2012 – London, New York, Paris, Tokyo, Gothenburg and Hong Kong – MDSL, the leading provider of international Market Data Expense Management

(MDEM) and Telecom Expense Management (TEM) solutions, today announced that Steve Ellenberg has joined as a Senior Market Data Consultant and Lead on the US MDX (Market Data eXpert) Team.

Steve brings 20 years’ experience in a range of Market Data Management roles at leading investment banks and asset management firms, as well as at vendor organisations. This exceptional depth of experience on both sides of the negotiating table has honed his ability to deliver superior spend reduction solutions and provide expert market data management guidance.

For the majority of 2011 Steve was a market data management consultant. For the six years prior, he was a Vice President on the Market Data Sourcing Team at Credit Suisse, where he managed the global consolidation and centralisation of all equity, commodity, and fixed income index licensing agreements and associated spend. Steve significantly reduced the bank’s index licensing fees per structured product issuance and also implemented intelligent index licensing practices. He was the primary reference data license agreement negotiator on the sourcing team, until the team was off-shored in early 2011. He also held the nominated and non-compensated position of Co-Chair for Consumer Constituency Group, FISD, and the Index Licensing Special Interest Group Co-Chair at The Information Providers User Group (IPUG).

Previously, Steve held tenures as Vice President on Citigroup Asset Management’s Market Data Vendor Management Team, and as Vendor Manager on Morgan Stanley’s Market Data Sourcing Team.

At MDSL, Steve’s primary focus will be the coordination of MDX services and client-driven development of new products such as index licensing cost optimisation and third party compliance reporting solutions.

Ben Mendoza, MDSL CEO said: “We are delighted to be welcoming someone with Steve’s breadth of experience and knowledge of the Market Data Management industry to MDSL. Steve has been at the very leading edge of Market Data Management in a number of the world’s premiere financial institutions, as well as having held tenures focused on client support and business development at major vendor organisations. He brings a unique perspective to bear on all aspects of the business. We know he will bring significant value to MDSL and look forward to the different MDX initiatives he’ll be launching as a winning member of our team”.
