Emerson Network Power Addresses Key Challenges in Powering Midsize IT Systems Amid Disruptive Technologies

Introduces the Liebert® eXM with rapid deployment capabilities and flexible configurations for small and midsize organizations, branch and retail network

Singapore September 8, 2015Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the world’s leading provider of critical infrastructure for information and communications technology systems, today introduced the Liebert® eXM UPS, a high efficiency power system for small and midsize power applications. The Liebert eXM is ideal for bank branches and retail offices, secondary spaces of large companies, large IT or telecom closets and labs and testing facilities for healthcare. The 3-phase Liebert eXM UPS is available in North America, Central and Latin America, and now throughout Asia Pacific in four fixed capacities from 80 to 200kVA/kW in 380V, 400V or 415V ac supply.

“User and application demands are rapidly growing and organizations need to adjust their IT systems to support them. Midsize computing operations have their own unique requirements and challenges. This includes space restrictions, staffing experience, budget limitations and other infrastructure obstacles. These issues often come to light when choosing the right power system, as managers balance these restrictions while striving for efficiency, agility, control and uptime,” said Arunangshu Chattopadhyay, director of power product marketing and central technical support, Emerson Network Power in Asia.

“The Liebert eXM is designed to provide maximum power protection that can meet the operating and capital requirements of midsize data centers, delivering high efficiency at minimum footprint,” added Chattopadhyay.

A key challenge faced by midsize organizations is predicting and managing costs when it comes to IT assets. A highly efficient UPS with flexible power capabilities helps save electricity, and also provides the backdrop to manage future costs. The Liebert eXM’s unity power factor design delivers the highest level of power capacity, reducing cabling and installation costs and saving more than 30 percent in floor space over comparable configured systems. Moreover, it delivers more power in a smaller footprint.

The ENERGY STAR® qualified Liebert eXM delivers maximum operating efficiencies. During double conversion mode, the transformer-free Liebert eXM UPS delivers up to 96.4 percent efficiency. While in energy saving Eco-Mode, efficiency increases up to 99.1 percent. Significant customer savings annually can be achieved for every efficiency percentage point gained per 100kW.

Another challenge is that organizations need power systems that provide instant access to critical operating information. The intelligence capabilities of the Liebert eXM UPS include a robust on-unit LCD panel which manages operational parameters while reducing human error. The battery monitoring option improves the reliability of backup batteries through continuous testing and reporting.

Additionally, the exclusive LIFE™ Services provide rich lifecycle management via continuous remote diagnostics and proactive service dispatch. Emerson experts use advanced service level data and IP-based communications to anticipate, identify, diagnose and respond to problems before they can cause downtime or hinder performance.

Superior operational control can be realized through the Emerson Network Power data center infrastructure management system, the Trellis™ platform, or the Liebert Nform and Liebert SiteScan™ systems, each delivering improved overall control, visibility and infrastructure performance.
