ENEA Antarctica project win, CommuniGate Systems now delivers communication solutions to every continent in the world
A recent project win with the Italian ENEA team in Antarctica means CommuniGate Pro is now delivering communications across every continent in the world.
December 6th 2011 – CommuniGate Systems, the leader in super-efficient, massively scalable unified communications technology announce that CommuniGate Pro has been selected to deliver reliable and secure email and instant messaging communication solutions for the Italian Antarctic Program under the logistic responsibility of ENEA (Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development).
CommuniGate Pro was chosen by ENEA to reduce their total cost of ownership (TCO), reduce operational overheads and to increase performance, reliability and security. CommuniGate Systems’ Italian distributor, Answer VAD, is leading the project with ENEA in Antarctica and their Italian offices.
CommuniGate Pro is unique, providing the only single-vendor Unified Communications solution on the market. As a single-vendor solution, operators, service providers and enterprises across the world benefit from massively reduced costs and simplified scalability.
“Our confidence in the potential of CommuniGate Pro led us to choose it in such an extreme situation as the mission in Antarctica”, said Piero Angelo Cavoli of the Antarctic Technical Unit of ENEA , “Where reliability and secure communications is of utmost importance, it simply could not be questioned.”

The Italian National Antarctic Research Program (PNRA) began in 1985 with the objective of ensuring the participation of Italy to the Antarctic Treaty and the development of scientific research in the Antarctic continent. Since then, every year, there were scientific expeditions, the results of which have brought our country to the level of the most important nations. This has led to the creation of a coastal station open during the southern summer, and – in conjunction with the French program – a permanent station on the plateau, operational in the summer and winter. The mission has also developed various technologies, such as telecommunications and automation needed to further their research. The Italian National Research Council (CNR) is the scientific coordinator of PNRA, while ENEA has in charge the logistics and the implementation of PNRA.
