EPAM Systems expands European presence with new development facility in Poland

Newtown, PA — May 5, 2011 — EPAM Systems, Inc., the leading software engineering and IT Outsourcing (ITO) provider in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), today announced the expansion of its European Union delivery centers with the launch of its first Polish development facility in Krakow. The addition of the Krakow office reinforces EPAM’s strategic commitment to the NearShore value proposition for ITO services delivered to European clients and multinationals operating within the EU, and complements EPAM’s existing European locations in Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia, as well as European engagement management centers in the UK, Germany, Sweden, and Switzerland.

The selection of Krakow was made based on the depth of its experienced IT talent, a favorable geopolitical environment for global clients, its excellent university system, advanced infrastructure, and appealing living conditions necessary for staff retention. The Krakow facility will serve new clients, and help fortify EPAM’s strategic relationship with existing clients. Each year Krakow educates over 180,000 students within its numerous reputable universities, guaranteeing a supply of qualified multi-lingual IT employees. Skilled software engineering specialists are one of the region’s biggest advantages, with Polish students often earning top positions in many international contests, such as TopCoders, International Olympics in Computer Science, Google Code Jam Europe, and ACM.

EPAM’s CTO, Balazs Fejes, stated “We plan to expand to 150 people during our stabilization and leadership building phase in 2011, with more significant growth targeted for 2012 and 2013.” Fejes added, “Our move into Poland offers us an excellent way to combine scalability with quality, making it a key element in EPAM’s global expansion strategy. Utilizing our experience from EU based NearShore delivery capability such as our 600 member Hungarian operation, and leveraging the long-standing Hungarian-Polish friendship, we expect to jump-start the Krakow team so that it very quickly becomes a major contributor to EPAM’s and our clients’ delivery success.”

“As both the largest and most geo-diverse Central and Eastern European IT player, EPAM continues to enhance its delivery infrastructure and expand its presence into additional high value, scalable talent pools within the region,” said Arkadiy Dobkin, EPAM CEO and President. “This move strengthens our European NearShore market position at a time when demand from the European marketplace for high quality software services and solutions delivered quickly and on time, is significant and growing rapidly.”
