· Expands strong partnership between Ericsson and Sprint highlighted by Network Advantage in 2009

Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC) announced today it has been selected as a key equipment and services provider for Sprint’s Network Vision program, the next evolution of the Sprint network.  Network Vision will launch beginning in 2011.

Sprint reports that the total incremental cost of the Network Vision program over the deployment period is between USD 4billion and USD 5billion.

The five-year contract includes Ericsson building a complete network infrastructure solution for roughly one third of the nations geography for Sprint markets largely in the central and south east regions of the country, including Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Kansas City and Dallas.

In addition, in its role managing Sprint’s nationwide Network Advantage program, Ericsson will also serve as the Prime Integrator with responsibility for assuring the successful introduction and transition of all vendors’ equipment into Sprint’s nationwide network infrastructure.

“Being selected by Sprint as a major technology supplier is a great honor and major accomplishment for Ericsson,” said Angel Ruiz, head of Ericsson’s North American operations. “We look forward to working with Sprint to help enhance their customer experience through the Network Vision program.”

“We have been very pleased with the success of our Network Advantage managed services program in partnership with Ericsson,” said Steve Elfman, president, Network Operations & Wholesale, Sprint. “It’s a natural fit for us to include Ericsson in this important network evolution project as we prepare to deliver the next generation of mobility for our customers.”

Ericsson’s end-to-end solution for Sprint’s Network Vision program includes:

· Multi-band, multi-standard Radio Access Network based on RBS6000

· Comprehensive core network for voice and data

· End-to-End IP/Microwave backhaul solution with Ericsson MINI-LINK and SmartEdge.

· Complete turnkey services with network design & optimization, deployment/integration, training and support.

Today’s contract expands Ericsson’s ongoing relationship with Sprint.  In 2009, Ericsson entered into a seven-year, nationwide full scope network services agreement covering Sprint’s wireless, wireline and iDEN networks, a deal valued at between USD 4.5 – 5 billion. This breakthrough agreement was the first Managed Services contract in the US. Additionally, Ericsson is a major supplier of CDMA infrastructure to Sprint’s network.
