EXFO Integrates Packet Capture across Its Ethernet Testing Portfolio

by david.nunes

QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, August 19, 2010 — EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF) announced today the implementation of comprehensive packet-capture functionalities across its entire Ethernet testing portfolio. This feature empowers field technicians to easily capture and decode 10 Mbit/s to 10 Gbit/s Ethernet traffic at full line rate to effectively isolate and analyze application-layer configuration problems.

Today’s multiservice networks are growing increasingly complex, driving the need for technicians to have a more granular view of data traffic across all layers of the network. By adding packet-capture and decode capabilities to its test modules, EXFO brings to market a comprehensive, simplified and fully integrated solution for end-to-end carrier Ethernet network assessment. This enables field technicians to quickly pinpoint, analyze and report quality of service issues using a single test unit. Furthermore, by complementing the recently released EtherSAM methodology (ITU-T Y-156sam) with packet-capture functionalities, EXFO is revolutionizing the way network operators validate, turn up, monitor and troubleshoot carrier Ethernet services.

“Being at the forefront of carrier Ethernet testing, EXFO is committed to continue on delivering innovative solutions and tools that will increase the autonomy, effectiveness and productivity of field technicians,” said Etienne Gagnon, EXFO’s Vice-President—Wireline Division and Corporate Marketing. “Our new packet capture feature, just like our EtherSAM test methodology, is yet another example of how EXFO is improving on testing efficiency to ease its customers’ operation.”
