Famous Four Media Selects Sedo to Help Market its Premium Name Portfolio of Internet Domain Extensions

Applicant for 57 of the most exciting new generic TLDs is partnering with world’s largest domain marketplace to bring its most popular names to market

CAMBRIDGE, MA and GIBRALTAR– November 21st, 2013Sedo, the world’s largest premium domain marketplace and monetization provider, and Famous Four Media (FFM), one of the largest applicants for new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), today announced a partnership to bring some of the most exciting new domain names to market. FFM selected Sedo’s services that were developed based on 14 years of experience in the domain industry. Sedo will be working with FFM to conduct auctions, privately broker premium names and promote the different extensions under FFM’s management.

When the Internet’s governing body, ICANN, announced plans in 2011 to dramatically expand the number of domain extensions, FFM was one of the most active participants in the program, applying to manage 57 new gTLDs. In the coming months, FFM will begin making 12 of these extensions available to the public, beginning with .BID and rapidly followed by .WEBCAM, .TRADE, .ACCOUNTANT and .REVIEW. The remaining extensions will be released at later dates as they’re awarded to FFM and approved by ICANN.

“Famous Four Media’s portfolio of new gTLDs is widely regarded as one of the best in the industry,” said Tobias Flaitz, CEO at Sedo. “They had the foresight to apply for a number of extensions that will clearly be useful and popular in the communities they’re intended to serve. These are extensions that will be fun for us to work with – and ultimately for businesses and consumers to use – and we’re excited that Famous Four Media chose Sedo to help get them off the ground.”

Other gTLDs that FFM will be launching in 2014 include .WIN, .DOWNLOAD, .SCIENCE, .LOAN, .MEN and .DATE.

“The new gTLD program has been years in the making and will soon become a reality on the Internet,” said Andy Churley, Chief Marketing Officer, Famous Four Media. “We’re really looking forward to seeing the creative ways companies and individuals will use the names we’re able to offer them. To ensure that its domain names find the right home, Famous Four Media only works with the very best providers, and Sedo’s experience and worldwide reach, makes it a natural fit.”
