NEW DELHI, India, February 13, 2012 – Cisco today announced that it has been chosen by Fastway Transmissions Private Ltd (Fastway) to usher in cable digitization across its customer base in the key states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. As part of this initiative, Fastway is expected to deploy more than 2 million next-generation digital set-top boxes from Cisco, over the next two years.  In addition to being one of the largest cable digitization projects in the country, Cisco® set top box comes at an affordable price point with an optimum feature set to suit Indian preferences.

By enabling services like residential TV, HDTV, gaming, digital video recording, video on demand and future ‘connected home’ servicestoretail consumers, Fastway can now evolve from a cable distribution company to a lifestyle-experience provider. Fastway plans to provide broadband services and is currently working with universities and institutes in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to offer educational services. Cisco’s cable digitization solutions provide the massive scaling and operational cost optimization benefits that cable operators need to transition to a digital platform, apart from being able to take advantage of Cisco Capital® leasing and finance options.
