FIME GCF-Qualified Tool Selected for NFC Testing by China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT)
13 October 2015 – The China Telecommunication Technology Laboratory of CAICT (CTTL – 中國泰爾實驗室), the largest testing laboratory in China for the telecommunication market, has selected FIME’s Global Device test tool. The laboratory will use the tool to validate near field communication (NFC) enabled mobile devices in line with the mandated specifications from the Global Certification Forum (GCF).
GCF is an independent certification scheme for mobile phones and wireless devices based on 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards. GCF has referenced the GSMA NFC handset test book PRD-TS27 in its Certification Criteria for devices supporting UICC-based NFC services. As a GCF-qualified test tool, Global Device can be used by a recognized test organization to perform the tests required for GCF’s mobile device certification.
“This is a compulsory standard that all NFC-enabled devices now need to meet, so it was essential for us to find the right tool,” comments Dr. Zhu, Manager of NFC technology at CTTL. “FIME’s tool was one of the first to achieve qualification and we have a longstanding relationship with the company, both for its tools and consultancy services, so it was an easy choice for us.”
FIME will not only provide CTTL with the required tool to perform GCF testing. Its experts will also host training on the intricacies of the various standards referenced in the GSMA TS27 and how the tool is used to certify NFC handsets.
