FTB-880 NetBlazer Named Best Carrier
Ethernet Test and Measurement Solution
EXFO’s innovation acknowledged at the 2012 IIR Carrier Ethernet EMEA Awards
QUEBEC CITY, CANADA, September 19, 2012 — EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO) (TSX: EXF) announced today that its FTB-880 NetBlazer was named best Carrier Ethernet test and measurement solution at the 2012 IIR Carrier Ethernet EMEA Awards, which were handed out at this year’s Carrier Ethernet World Congress, in Barcelona, Spain. The FTB-880 NetBlazer was chosen for its comprehensive set of automated, advanced test functionalities. This award is the latest market accolade for a product that was launched in 2011 and has since been selected by 10 of the world’s 15 largest network operators.
The ongoing transition towards a converged network infrastructure requires a test tool that can cover multiple interfaces and rates, without sacrificing portability, speed or cost. Furthermore, with multiservice offerings—next-gen SONET/SDH, packet-based Ethernet, OTN, Fibre Channel, DSn/PDH—becoming the norm, there is an increasing need for intuitive test features that maximize technician efficiency without requiring additional training.
Housed in the powerful FTB-1 handheld platform, the FTB-880 NetBlazer allows field technicians to perform all these tests easily and efficiently with a single instrument. As part of the FTB Ecosystem, the FTB-880 also makes use of EXFO Connect, a cloud-based environment that delivers automated hardware and test data management, for streamlined test operations and dynamic data reporting.
One of the key differentiators of the FTB-880 NetBlazer is the EtherSAM (Y.1564) service activation methodology, which drastically speeds up deployment and eliminates repeats by offering real-time visibility of all service-level agreement (SLA) metrics. With its unique, patent-pending bidirectional testing functionalities, EtherSAM enables network operators and service providers to perform one-way measurements of all SLA key performance indicators (KPI).
“We focus on developing close relationships with our customers, tailoring solutions for their challenges, and delivering innovation that offers them true value. Not only do our solutions bring an advanced approach to enhancing network performance, but they can also have a significant impact on network operators’ efficiency improvement efforts,” said Étienne Gagnon, Vice-President of EXFO’s Test and Measurement Division. “Since its launch last year, the FTB-880 NetBlazer has quickly established itself as a reference in the industry; no other Ethernet testing solution on the market offers such automation, simplicity, accuracy and efficiency.”
