Marketing and Business Development for FTTH Leader BVU Authority

ROSENBERG, TX – July 18, 2012 – Kyle Hollifield, a prominent veteran of the fiber-to-the-home industry and current Chairman of the Fiber-to-the-Home Council, is joining Broadband Communities in the role of Vice Chairman.

“Kyle is an extraordinary addition to our strategic leadership team,” said Scott DeGarmo, CEO of Broadband Communities. “His 35 years of management experience in the United States and abroad will be invaluable to us in our plans to expand.”

Hollifield is Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for BVU Authority, a utility that pioneered the deployment of FTTH technology. “Kyle has immense knowledge of cutting-edge technologies in the field and is also one of the most energetic, dynamic and creative individuals you could ever work with,” said Steve Ross, Corporate Editor. “This is an exciting move for us.”

“Broadband Communities has stayed uniquely focused on FTTH and fiber networks,” said Hollifield. “That makes them the perfect choice for me.” He added, “Like the Fiber-to-the-Home Council, Broadband Communities is dedicated to explaining and promoting the overwhelming value proposition of fiber to the home. Even during times of great economic stress, well-run fiber networks provide outstanding returns to their builders and immense benefits to users and their communities.”

Hollifield has been a member of the senior executive team at BVU Authority since 2008, a period during which the utility garnered many awards, including the ICF Smart Cities award for best deployed and managed smart FTTH technology in the United States and the National League of Cities Gold Award for sustainability programs and economic development. In addition to developing the BVU Authority’s highly successful sales and marketing plan for FTTH, he leads the utility’s FOCUS division, which provides consulting, engineering, and management for other utilities that are developing FTTH and VoIP services.

As Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Fiber-to-the-Home Council North America, Hollifield leads the only industry association dedicated to expanding all-fiber networks in North America. The Council consists of organizations that provide services over FTTH networks as well as companies that manufacture FTTH products and others involved in planning and building FTTH networks.

In his role as a Vice Chair, Hollifeld will join Hilda Legg, former Administrator of the Rural Utilities Service, who has been a Broadband Communities’ Vice Chair since 2006.
