Fujitsu Announces the Launch of MB95850/MB95860/MB95870 Series MCU with Built-in Capacitive Touch Interface

Diversity, reliable high quality, high precision and high cost-effectiveness enables easy expansion and development

Singapore, June 19, 2012Fujitsu Semiconductor Asia Pte Ltd (FSAL) today announced the launch of its MBB95850/860/870 series MCU which is equipped with high security, high precision and high cost-effective dual FLASH built-in capacitive touch interface. This series includes two 24-pin MB95856 series equipped with high-sensitivity capacitive touch interface, one 32-pin MB95866 series and two 48/52-pin MB95876 series. Sample shipments are available from late June, and Fujitsu will start its mass production delivery from September 2012.

In recent years, the popularity of touchscreen devices in different markets has seen the rapid development of this technology. Out of these, capacitive touchscreen applications are developing the fastest. Compared to traditional mechanical and resistive touch technologies, capacitive touch provides a smoother experience, includes a touch screen with that transmits light excellently, and features a robust touch panel. In addition, capacitive touch screens are dust-proof, water-proof, anti-electromagnetic and do not interfere with light signals. To meet market demands, Fujitsu Semiconductor announced the launch of its MBB95850/860/870 series MCU with built-in capacitive touch interface.

Based on the 8-bit microcontroller F2MC-8FX Family, this series uses APIS™ (Adjacent Pattern Interference Suppression) and AIC™ (Configurable Automatic Impedance Calibration) touch technology, which enables touch MCU to accurately identify touch input at various temperatures and in humid environments, and under different ground and complex working conditions. The built-in capacitive touch peripheral unit makes the capacitive touch function easy to use, much like common peripherals. The products support capacitive touch button and slider functions, while its hardware supports capacitive touch functionality, meaning that no additional software overhead is needed. This series employs dual channel FLASH technology, to protect important customer data. The series integrates various timers with multiple channels and high versatility, 10-bit high resolution A/D convertor, oscillation circuit, low-voltage detection circuit, UART/SIO circuit, I2C circuit and built-in one-channel analog comparator, which greatly reduces the number of components in the customer’s system and improves product integration accordingly.

The MBB95850/860/870 series adopts 180 nm technologies to achieve a high energy-efficiency design. This series uses advanced technologies, which allows the components to integrate better and more precisely. For example, the chip integrates an oscillator with a frequency of 16.25MHz (±2%), a data flash memory that supports background operation and 100,000 read/write operations, a built-in A/D convertor and a low-voltage detection circuit that helps to realize higher precision.

The MBB95850/860/870 series employs common development tools and software development environment. This series adopts single wire on-chip debug function, which assists customers in debugging by using the least number of pins.

Features

1. Adopts high-sensitivity and reliable touch technology

· It adopts three different kinds of APIS modes to filter out malfunction and false trigger on the hardware level, thus reducing the CPU consumption on the software level.

· It uses automatic impedance correction technology (AIC) to adjust to different working environments and conditions. It supports capacitive touch button and slider functions, and up to 12 channels.

2. Rich MCU peripheral resources enable its line-up to be easily expanded

· 36KB Flash space, 1KB RAM space.

· It integrates a 10-bit AD convertor, 8/16-bit composite timer, 8/16-bit PPG, UART/SIO, analog comparator and capacitive touch unit for simple operation and strong expansion.

· A single MCU can finish traditional MCU with touch IC function.

3. Internalization of external components for low cost

· By being equipped with CR oscillation circuit, low-voltage detection circuit and supervisor timer circuit, it can internalize two to three external components, such as external oscillator and reset IC, reducing the cost of the overall system.

4. Integrates high-performance flash memory

· It is equipped with high-performance flash memory, and the data can be rewritten up to 100,000 cycles in running the program. The guaranteed data retention time is 20 years. Its security function can prevent unauthorized program from reading data, so as to avoid the outflow of the customer’s software assets.
