Fujitsu Introduces Next Generation Flagship PRIMERGY Server for Business-Critical Computing

News facts:

Highest ever performance from a standard PRIMERGY RX rack server, underlined by a new SPEC world record

Latest generation model is a perfect platform for datacentre consolidation and virtualisation projects

Enhanced reliability, availability and security are accompanied by further advances in system consolidation and manageability

LONDON, June 14, 2016 – Fujitsu’s next generation flagship PRIMERGY rack-optimised server is an enabler for digital transformation, providing superior performance and reliability for business-critical backend datacentre services. The third-generation PRIMERGY RX4770 M31, a four-socket x86 server, delivers an impressive performance boost thanks to the inclusion of the Intel® Xeon® processor E7 v4 product family and super-fast memory.

The rackable PRIMERGY RX4770 M3 is optimised to run any organisation’s most demanding, business-critical tasks. It is ideally suited to complex, data-intensive workloads such as in-memory databases including SAP HANA and system-intensive tasks such as real-time business analytics. At the same time Fujitsu takes into account that organisations increasingly depend on their server infrastructure as backbone for their business, as they can’t afford any unplanned downtime which costs time and money. In the next generation PRIMERGY model, robustness is maximised via enhanced business-critical reliability, availability and security features2 and further progress in both system consolidation and manageability has been realised.

Uwe Neumeier, Vice President and Head of Datacentre, EMEIA Product Business at Fujitsu, says: “Datacentre consolidation is a vital and critical part of any digital transformation project. That means using foundational technology like our new PRIMERGY RX server, which is now more reliable than ever. Customers choosing PRIMERGY can expect guaranteed runtime and the capability to master business-critical applications such as SAP in-memory databases and ERP systems. Our new PRIMERGY flagship has set a new world record in the SPECint_rate_base_2006 benchmark for general computing, which underlines its superior performance3.”

New PRIMERGY saves money and space

By upgrading to PRIMERGY as their datacentre consolidation platform, organisations can also save money and reduce CO2 emissions through lowered power consumption – thanks to Fujitsu’s Cool-safe® Advanced Thermal Design. This allows for server operation in an extended ambient temperature range, between +5°C and +40°C, and can deliver energy savings of more than 25 percent.

Reduced power consumption and greater system density mean that the PRIMERGY RX4770 M3 is ideally suited for sever consolidation projects. For example, two new PRIMERGY RX servers can replace five equivalent systems from 2011, reducing physical space requirements by 60 percent. Simplified remote capabilities are also part of the new PRIMERGY server, enabling extensive server monitoring and management regardless of system status – even including decentralised locations.

Pricing and availability

Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY systems are available directly from Fujitsu and via distribution partners. Prices vary by region, model and configuration.

1 The PRIMERGY RX4770 M3 features the new Intel Xeon E7-4800/8800 v4 processor, 30 percent more processor cores, a one third increase in specialised L3 cache memory, from 45MB 60MB, and uses DDR4 memory.

2Business-critical features in the new server include built-in redundancy and hot-pluggable components, advanced ECC (error-correcting code memory), memory scrubbing, and the lockstep memory features SDDC (single-device data correction) and DDDC (double-device data correction).

3 Fujitsu has set a new world record in the SPECint_rate_base2006, measuring server throughput. Test configuration: Fujitsu Server PRIMERGY RX4770 M3 with four Intel® Xeon® processor E7-8890 v4, 512 GB (32 x 16GB) memory, running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12, C/C++: Version 16.0.0.101 of Intel C++ Studio XE for Linux. Hyper-Threading on. Score: SPECint_rate_base2006 = 3570, SPECint_rate2006 = 3710. Result published on https://www.spec.org/cpu2006/results/
