Critical Media Expands In U.K. With Licensing of Sky News Channel Content

24-hour news channel now part of Critical Mention direct and partner platforms

NEW YORK, May 7 – Critical Media, whose Critical Mention real-time broadcast intelligence platform is used by more than 1,500 clients including nine of the world’s top 10 brands, today announced the addition of Sky News to its rapidly expanding UK broadcast content selection.

The licensing agreement with British Sky Broadcasting provides real-time content from Sky News globally to subscribers of Critical Mention and to third-party media monitoring platforms that leverage the Critical Mention API.

“As the UK’s first dedicated 24-hour news channel, Sky News has built a reputation for being the first to break major news as well as offering insight and analysis on the latest stories,” said Sean Morgan, founder and CEO of Critical Media, which operates Critical Mention. “These are important attributes to subscribers of Critical Mention, who include marketing communications and public relations professionals in corporations, government agencies, not-for-profits and their supporting PR/IR and public affairs firms.”

The comprehensive agreement takes effect immediately and covers all programming on the 24-hour Sky News channel, which is headquartered in London and includes seven UK bureaus and 11 international bureaus. More than 600 staff work for Sky News around the world.

The Critical Mention real-time TV and radio search platform already ingests content from more than 1,300 media sources around the world, including from all 210 U.S. television markets, Canada and the Middle East. The addition of Sky News positions the platform as the world’s most powerful and comprehensive capture network in the United States, Canada and the U.K., digitizing and indexing in real-time more than 44 hours of TV and radio content from around the world every 60 seconds.

By delivering real time alerts from Sky News to the desktop of business intelligence professionals, Critical Mention clients can now react and make business decisions in real-time with more information at their fingertips. Sky News content will initially be offered immediately to Critical Mention’s existing client base, and through partnering media monitoring platforms in the U.K.
