Omnitron Successfully Demonstrates Carrier

Ethernet 2.0 Interoperability

Carrier Ethernet World Congress, Barcelona September 17, 2012 Omnitron Systems Technology, (www.omnitron-systems.com) a provider of Carrier Ethernet demarcation devices, today announced its success in demonstrating at the multi-vendor Interoperability Showcase organized by the European Advanced Networking Test Center (EANTC).  The results of the Interoperability Showcase will be presented at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress (CEWC) 2012 in Barcelona and Carrier Ethernet APAC in Hong Kong.

“In this year’s Carrier Ethernet World Congress Interoperability Event, a number of our tests were directly related to Carrier Ethernet 2.0,” said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director of EANTC. “We tested Multiple Classes of Service in our service activation test, and in our managed services area we verified multi-vendor hierarchical service OAM at multiple levels across Ethernet Network to Network Interfaces (ENNI).”

Omnitron demonstrated interoperability of the iConverter® GM4 Network Interface Device and successfully completed a variety of Carrier Ethernet 2.0 tests relating to Multi-CoS, management and interoperability. The tests included ITU-T Y.1564 service activation, ITU-T Y.1731 Performance Monitoring, IEEE 1588v2 Clock Synchronization and ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet ring protection.

“Omnitron’s success at the EANTC Interoperability Showcase demonstrates that the iConverter GM4 is a robust product that enables deployments of global Carrier Ethernet 2.0 services over networks that incorporate equipment from multiple vendors.” said Steve Mood, CTO of Omnitron Systems.

Omnitron was one of 10 vendors participating in the test, including Albis Technologies, Aviat Networks, Ericsson, HFR, Ixia, NEC, SIAE, Spirent Communications, and Symmetricom.  The vendors showcased a single interoperable multi-vendor Carrier Ethernet network supporting MEF-defined business services and mobile backhaul solutions.  The showcase demonstrated the results of a two week hot-staging at EANTC including mobile backhaul synchronization, Ethernet OAM implementations, and high availability protocols.

EANTC is publishing a white paper on the event that documents the success of the interoperability testing in detail.  EANTC’s utmost goal is to provide unbiased, vendor-neutral information for service providers and analysts. This is achieved by a balanced review process focusing on test results achieved during the hot-stage testing.
