PCCW Global launches HD video calling service for

enterprise customers and carrier partners

HONG KONG, July 9, 2013 – PCCW Global, an operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s premier telecommunications service provider, has launched a High-Definition (HD) video calling service for enterprise customers and carrier partners.

This new service offers switched point-to-point HD video calling, which gives customers a rich experience yet with the convenience like picking up the phone.

HD video calling allows enterprise customers to make seamless video calls with a managed class of service and guaranteed video quality endpoint-to-endpoint. It also enables customers to enjoy greater flexibility and productivity because there is no requirement for a conference bridge or a preset time to speak.

For carrier partners, HD video calling is an opportunity to interconnect with PCCW Global and to deliver switched video calling using existing business models developed for the voice market. Their enterprise customers may also enjoy the benefits of HD video calling service.

Mr. Jordick Wong, PCCW Global’s Senior Vice President of Product and Vendor Management, said, “HD communications is enjoying tremendous growth as enterprises are looking for high-quality but cost-effective communications solutions. Our HD video calling service can deliver the same excellent customer experience with video that carriers have been always delivering for voice via a traditional PSTN system, while providing managed class of service and guaranteed quality.”

“HD video calling is really about applying carriers’ expertise in voice trading to video sessions. This is in carriers’ DNA. By offering HD video calling, which requires large amounts of managed capacity, carriers can increasingly monetize the investments that have been put into their big bandwidth networks, and to do so on a per minute basis. We look forward to collaborating with more carrier partners to bring HD video calling service to enterprise customers around the globe,” he added.
