Samsung unveils new Android and Windows devices

We are entering the age of the single device for all we do

At the IFA Trade Show in Berlin, Samsung has unveiled its new Android and Windows-powered touchscreen devices, a new Windows powered tablet, a Windows smartphone, and an Android-powered camera.

Successful UK tech entrepreneur Dan Wagner, CEO of mPowa, said, “We are entering an age in which the mobile device in whichever form, whether manifested as a mobile phone or as a tablet device or some sort of ‘phablet’ hybrid, will be ubiquitous. Consumers and business people alike will be carrying out increasing numbers of their tasks daily on the go and on a light, handheld device rather than on a desktop or even on a laptop.

“Regardless of which of the many types of new offerings, mobile phones, tablets or hybrid devices, will be most successful, we shall regularly venture forth armed with one device only, with which we will communicate, receive and send correspondence, and create documents in a multiplicity of different formats and media, research, transact, shop and keep up with friends – without requiring any additional device.”

Dan’s company mPowa has launched a new service that takes advantage of the increased ownership of smartphones and mobile devices worldwide. It is a free portable and lightweight reader and app which enable any one of these devices to be instantly transformed into a point of sales device, which can safely make and accept payments by all major credit and debit cards. This works regardless of the type of device and the operating systemused and downloads the receipt and transaction details onto your mobile phone or tablet, and into your system, requiring no cumbersome further steps or costly further device.

Dan said, “The service that mPowa provides is a great example of the possibilities that can arise with a little innovation, allowing devices that consumers and business people carry every day to transform hitherto cumbersome but necessary daily tasks such as paying and accepting payments into an easy, instantly accessible added function of that same device.”

About mPowa

mPowa is a point of sale device that enables credit and debit card payments to be made on the go. It consists of a mobile phone app for iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows or Blackberry devices, and a card reader. This can be either a magnetic stripe reader (MSR) which can be plugged into the phone’s headphone socket or a Chip & PIN device which communicates with the phone through Bluetooth. It is the first service of its kind in the UK.

mPowa was created by multi award-winning serial entrepreneur Dan Wagner. Dan set up mPowa as the mobile off-shoot of his ecommerce and web publishing platform for small businesses called Powa Technologies. Previously, he established Venda – the world’s largest ‘on demand’ ecommerce provider – and Locayta – sophisticated search and profiling technology – both are now global leaders in their fields.
