ADVA FSP 3000 provides scalable connectivity from data center to colocation facilities

Norcross, Georgia, USA and Martinsried/Munich, Germany. August 16, 2011. ADVA Optical Networking announced today that Global Net Access (GNAX), a leading provider of data center services, colocation, cloud computing and managed hosting in the U.S., has deployed the ADVA FSP 3000 to upgrade its connection from its Atlanta NAP data center to a Telx interconnection facility. This connection upgrade will provide GNAX’s customers with even higher bandwidth access, up to 160 gigabytes, to hundreds of domestic and international carriers, in addition to low-latency connections to financial exchanges and media application providers. The ADVA FSP 3000’s protection and redundancy capabilities ensure that GNAX will be able to offer its customers strict Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for mission-critical applications.

“ADVA Optical Networking is a company that understands the importance of relationships,” said William Souder, vice president, engineering and online operations at GNAX. “We’ve been working with them for many months now and the level of expertise and understanding they display is exceptional. From inception to lab testing to actual deployment, their team worked tirelessly to ensure that we exceeded our customers’ expectations. We can now provide our customers with access to a whole range of new services. What’s more, we now have a network that grows at the same pace as our customers’ needs.”

Located close to ADVA Optical Networking’s U.S. headquarters, GNAX was able to take full advantage of the company’s state-of-the-art lab facilities. This access not only enabled GNAX to thoroughly test the network before deployment, but also provided the engineers with valuable hands-on experience with the ADVA FSP 3000, ensuring a good understanding of the product and its capabilities. By using a slimline version of the ADVA FSP 3000, GNAX is able to make full use of available rack space in its data center, while retaining low cooling and power costs.

“Our products continue to be a great fit for the data center environment,” commented John Scherzinger, senior vice president of sales, North America, ADVA Optical Networking. “Data center managers are increasingly confronted with demands to do more with less: less space, less heat, less power. Our developers are continually working with customers to ensure that we achieve this. With GNAX, we’ve worked side-by-side to develop a tailored network solution that addresses the mission-critical needs of their customers, both today and tomorrow.”

The ADVA FSP 3000 is a scalable Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) system specifically designed for service providers and large enterprises that require a flexible, cost-effective system that will multiplex, transport and protect high-speed data, storage, voice and video applications. The ADVA FSP 3000’s modular architecture, rack-mountable shelves, hot-swappable modules, universal cards, transparent interfaces and qualifications with all leading storage area network (SAN) vendors enables GNAX to dynamically meet its customers’ varied requirements and to easily provision services of any standard protocol.
