GREENPACKET SUCCESSFULLY PILOTS MOBILE IP FOR TELEFONICA USERS TO VIEW STREAMING VIDEO, TV, AND CONTENT SEAMLESSLY ACROSS 3G AND WIFI NETWORKS

Greenpacket’s Intouch Connectivity Experience Client Accelerates Telefonica’s Ability to Offer Uninterrupted Session Experience Across Multiple Networks and Devices

Barcelona, Spain, February 21, 2012 – Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, announced today leading up to the Mobile World Congress conference next week that Telefonica has completed a successful trial of its Intouch Connectivity Experience client for Mobile IP which will enable Telefonica’s users to enjoy their favorite soccer matches, broadcast news and lifestyle content via their Mobile TV IP service across multiple networks and devices seamlessly. The trial successfully demonstrated stable connectivity when switching between 3G-WiFi networks, and supports both Android and Windows operating systems.

The trial was able to accomplish zero content loss or jitter during video and content streaming. Ultimately, the user experience greatly benefits from uninterrupted service experience, while the Intouch client seamlessly offloads onto the preferred network to deliver the content on the highest bandwidth network. Mobile IP is necessary for operators offering Mobile TV type services, where an ongoing streaming session experiences an application-controlled handover from network to network automatically; e.g. 3G to WiFi.

“We are pleased to be working with the world’s leading and largest 3G operator in Spain. Our MIP enabled Intouch Connectivity Experience client support will be critical to Telefonica’s service strategy as they continue to grow their mobile TV segment by delivering the best quality programs to their users,” said Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket. “Mobile TV is in high demand among a large base of viewers in Spain and Latin America. We are helping to optimize operator control and enhance the mobile TV experience for these users as they move between different locations, networks, and devices.”

Lee added “We are recognized as a key technology driver in the global mobile software industry, and we have a proven track record of delivering world-class solutions. Our MIP enabled Intouch Connectivity Experience client will seamlessly connect, extend services and switch Telefonica’s users to the most preferred or optimized networks automatically.”

Greenpacket’s Intouch Connectivity Experience client empowers operators to deliver an enhanced connectivity experience across all mobile handheld devices; Smartphones, Feature Phones and Tablets to the subscribers. Supporting both Android and Windows platform, it will give flexibility to consumers to experience reliable and robust connectivity as they move across multiple spaces between their home, hotspots, office, campuses, car, airports and beyond.

The profile manager within the Intouch Connectivity Experience client contains in-built connection policies related to signal strength, priority and location that determines which network to connect. Additionally, the client supports seamless data offload via interworking WLAN.

The Greenpacket technology for Telefonica will be showcased at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain from 27th February to 1st March. Greenpacket will be available for media and analyst briefings at the conference about this news and other announcements upon request.

STOKE AND GREENPACKET ENABLE SEAMLESS OFFLOAD ACRO-S 3G-WIFI NETWORKS

Greenpacket’s Intouch Seamless Data Offload Client Completes Interoperability Testing with Stoke’s Wi-Fi Exchange Gateway

Kuala Lumpur and Santa Clara, CA., February 21, 2012 – Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, and mobile broadband developer Stoke, Inc. today jointly announced in advance of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona that they have successfully completed trials of seamless interworking and Wi-Fi interoperability leveraging on Greenpacket’s Interworking Wireless LAN (IWLAN) enabled client; Intouch Seamless Data Offload and Stoke’s Wi-Fi Exchange packet data gateway. The testing provides assurance of compatibility of the two companies’ solutions to seamlessly connect and switch between 3G and Wi-Fi for smartphone type devices, and demonstrates their ability to provide end-to-end commercial solutions.

Wi-Fi Exchange is part of Stoke’s suite of new generation, ultra scalable, mobile broadband gateway solutions for 3G and 4G/LTE networks. “Stoke is pleased that its work with Greenpacket demonstrates the viability of the 3GPP standard IWLAN technique for mobile network operators seeking to leverage Wi-Fi offload to handle capacity challenges,” said Dave Williams, CTO at Stoke. “The continued growth in data traffic and the shortage of licensed spectrum means that operators must include Wi-Fi offload in their future traffic management strategies. Our solution enables them to offload data while being able to authenticate subscribers and transparently allow access to hot spot services.”

Stokes Wi-Fi exchange is a carrier-grade platform that can support a wide range of UE software clients and can be quickly deployed into existing 3G or LTE networks to enable operators safely and automatically to authenticate Wi-Fi subscribers and securely link them to their services network. It also builds routing intelligence in traffic from Wi-Fi path based on operator-provided policy. Stoke’s Wi-Fi Exchange offers high-density secure session termination of Wi-Fi connections outside the operator core and provides operators maximum flexibility in integrating Wi-Fi traffic with the operator network.

“As more operators look to Wi-Fi technology as the optimum data offload option, it is very important they consider end-to-end solutions with proven 3GPP interoperability,” said Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket. “The interoperability testing of our solution ensures mobile operators address offloading strategy in a reliable, secure and cost effective manner that’s vital in today’s increasingly mobile workforce.”

Greenpacket’s Intouch Seamless Data Offload Client allows scalability and flexibility in deploying secured, automatic and value added Wi-Fi access both in trusted and also in unmanaged or untrusted hotspots. The interworking access mechanism is not merely a remedy to the operator’s network congestion, but also aims to provide a solution that effectively and securely offloads data from 3GPP systems to WLAN networks, wherever it fits the overall operator’s business objectives. These business objectives may include providing native operator service and content to WLAN hot spots and ensuring the same subscriber provisioning, authentication, and service authorization that are already in place for 3G services with ease of integration towards backend systems.

The differentiator in Greenpacket’s Intouch Data Offload solution offering is the flexibility of incorporating IWLAN, ANDSF and MIP feature support that can be implemented as a total solution or independently, as an integrated mobile data offload and traffic optimization solution. Both Greenpacket and Stoke are open and committed to developing customized solutions either via 3rd party vendors or solution integrators.

Stoke will be showcasing its Wi-Fi Exchange and other solutions at the 2012 Mobile World Congress Conference and Exhibition, Barcelona, Spain from 27th February to 1st March. Representatives from Greenpacket and Stoke will be available to demonstrate the solution and discuss the success of the IOT.
