Greenpacket Joins the Global TD-LTE Initiative

Kuala Lumpur, February 20, 2013Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, announced that it is now a member in the Global TD-LTE Initiative (GTI) Partner Program which is the decision-making board for the 4G TD-LTE technology global movement.

GTI was founded in February 2011 by leading mobile network operators to meet the demands of growing mobile broadband and explore new opportunities across industry and public segments. GTI aims to bring together the leading operators and vendors to steer the TD-LTE ecosystem as a major standard in mobile broadband technology and drive worldwide development of next generation broadband networks. The founding members of GTI are Aero2, Bharti, Clearwire, China Mobile, E-Plus, Softbank and Vodafone.

Currently, GTI has 51 operator members and 39 partners in the Partner Program.

Kay Tan, Chief Operating Officer of Greenpacket Solutions delightfully said that the partnership marks another major milestone for Greenpacket Solutions in driving the 4G TD-LTE movement. “The WiMAX community is entering a transitioning period with majority of active operators looking to adopt TD-LTE either as a complimentary standard to their current WiMAX deployment or as a standard that they will migrate towards. Amongst them, we have already identified over 20 operators currently making the move with 50% of them currently being our clients. We anticipate that more operators will make similar decisions to their 4G plans within the next two years and see ourselves positioned strategically to work with them hand-in-hand through this transitioning journey.

Tan added “Greenpacket is uniquely positioned in the industry as we have a symbiotic function both as a leading 4G Operator via P1 Network and as a device vendor via Greenpacket Solutions, which gives us the best of both worlds. We believe that we are in a good place to help drive the 4G TD-LTE movement and build the ecosystem.”

James Wang, Senior Vice President of Greenpacket Solutions’ Innovation and Strategy Development further adds “Being a leading 4G WiMAX device vendor and an early pioneer, we believe that we have the right combination of expertise in designing multi-mode TD-LTE+WiMAX devices. Late last year we introduced two devices; a LTE USB modem and a dual-mode LTE+WiMAX Indoor modem and for this year, we have lined up an entire portfolio of access network devices. The industry players will definitely be able to see more of our cutting-edge devices in the coming months.”

With this partner program, Greenpacket commits to help build the TD-LTE ecosystem by developing TD-LTE devices and access network terminal, advocating and driving the proliferation of TD-LTE through strategic initiative within the WiMAX operator community, promote the convergence of TD-LTE and WiMAX and also to study and contribute to resolve key technical issues for TD-LTE, TD-LTE+WiMAX commercial deployment with specific focus on terminals.

Greenpacket will be at the GTI Summit hosted by GTI and collocating with the 2013 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain from 25th February to 28th February. Representatives from Greenpacket will be available to meet and discuss this news and others upon request.
