GTS Central Europe extends access to global Ethernet partners

Warsaw, October 12, 2011 – GTS Central Europe (GTS), a leading infrastructure-based telecommunications operator and data center service provider, has established interconnection with the Equinix Carrier Ethernet Exchange (ECEE). Through joining ECEE, GTS now has the opportunity to create new channels of revenue by selling Ethernet services to other ECEE operator members who want to extend coverage across Central and Eastern Europe.

“Our decision to join ECEE opens up new markets and allows GTS to work with new partners.”

said Artur Ostrowski, SVP, Head of International Services.

” By using this platform, we can easily and cost-effectively interconnect and exchange Ethernet services with global and local service providers, which untill now, were out of our reach. Though we are very successful in establishing Ethernet Private E-NNIs with our partners, and will continue to deal with them directly, we feel that joining Ethernet exchanges is another way of doing business in parallel with E-NNIs.

GTS participation in Ethernet exchange represents the company’s commitment to L2 Ethernet services. In 2010, we launched the end-to-end GTS Carrier Ethernet Platform across the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. Now, after successful completion of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) certification for GTS Ethernet services, our customers can be assured of the conformity of our services with the highest telecommunications standards.

“We are delighted to welcome GTS Central Europe to the ECEE global list of operators,”

said Dick Theunissen, Chief Marketing Officer for Equinix in EMEA,

“GTS’s membership is a valuable boost that extends the depth and breadth of Equinix’s Carrier Ethernet ecosystem over Central and Eastern Europe. Looking at the demand for high bandwidth services in the CEE region, I look forward to seeing GTS contribute to the acceleration of Carrier Ethernet in this part of Europe”.

The Interconnection Platform ECEE enables service providers to exchange Ethernet services via a single interconnection point, allowing them to work together to build end-to-end services for their enterprise customers all over the world. Members use the Equinix Marketplace to publish their lit building lists, document endpoint locations and the specific capabilities of their own network. Other members are then able to use the Marketplace to search the lit building lists of multiple providers with a single query.
