to present an award at the prestigious KBS Drama Awards 2016

HONG KONG, January 10, 2017 — PCCW Media Group’s Viu was selected as the first and exclusive international OTT video service to present the inaugural Asia’s Best Couple Award at the prestigious KBS Drama Awards 2016 held on December 31. The Awards is to recognize outstanding achievements in Korean dramas in 2016. The programme is now available on Viu.
Viu viewers from Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines were a major determination of the Asia’s Best Couple in 2016. KBS honoured Viu’s partnership by inviting Ms. Janice Lee, Managing Director of PCCW Media Group, to present this highly coveted award to Mr. Song Joong Ki and Ms. Song Hye Kyo, the leading cast of the phenomenally popular drama, Descendants of The Sun. The TV series is part of Hallyu which is sweeping over Asia, topping the list of highest viewership for Korean drama series across all markets with Viu in Asia.
Stars and producers competed vehemently to win the coveted awards. KBS Drama Awards traditionally recorded high viewership among Korean TV drama fans and, as in past years, this year’s programme enjoyed the highest viewership at 15.5% (TNMS) among all TV shows simulcast in South Korea at the same timeslot.
