Huawei and FanPlay Collaborate to Offer Agile Stadium Solutions
BEIJING, July 30, 2014 – Huawei, a leading information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced a partnership with FanPlay, a cloud-based digital content service provider that is part of Finalogic Business Technology, to launch agile stadium solutions that support high-speed wireless connectivity and value-added mobile services at stadiums and professional football clubs in Europe. With these solutions, stadiums and football clubs can adopt new business models by using a smart device business platform to enhance the experience of football fans that watch games at stadiums.

As part of the collaboration, Huawei and FanPlay have developed a comprehensive mobile business platform for stadiums that offers live video broadcasting and replay, in-game betting, interactive games, online shopping, purchasing of fast food and beverages, ticketing, sponsor marketing message posting and product sales, and a number of other services via FanPlay’s applications. In addition, football clubs can use the information collected via this platform to better understand their fans and explore new business opportunities through other personalized mobile interactions.
The platform uses Huawei’s agile network solution to provide high-density wireless features such as auto radio, high-density boost and airtime dynamic time scheduling. Its professional network planning capabilities can also support high-density user access and guarantee 100 percent simultaneous network access within the stadium.
The stadium solution is also designed to be secure for both the stadium operator and the end users. The big data analytics tool embedded in Huawei’s agile controller and security gateways protects the stadiums’ IT infrastructure and services from attacks and advance intrusion threats. In addition, the controller can be programmed using central control policies to identify and differentiate individual users with tiered service experience management. This allows stadium operators to offer the highest network quality guarantees to high-value VIP users and the most important network services.
In 2014, Huawei and FanPlay began deploying the agile stadium solution at UK football club stadiums. FanPlay was selected by the stadium to operate its network and provide mobile applications and a data platform with mobile payment capabilities. Huawei will deploy technologies to enable high-density Wi-Fi coverage throughout the entire stadium.
