Intelligent Cities Conference Hosted by one of UK’s Super Connected Cities

A national Intelligent Cities conference hosted by Leeds and Partners with support from Leeds City Council will address the requirements that cities in the UK are facing to become smarter with the support of broadband and open data services.

The Intelligent Cities conference will take place on 19 June and includes presentations from IBM, EE, Arup, Cambium Networks, aql, Leeds Data Thing, Cisco, Medtech University of Leeds and Synchronoss Technologies. Rohit Talwar, a global futurist profiled by the Independent Newspaper as one of the top ten global future thinkers on how technology is transforming business and society, will also speak at the conference as will Paul Hadley who is the Deputy Director Information Economy Industrial Strategy at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills

Leeds was chosen by the government last year, to become one of 12 super connected cities by 2015, enabling homes and businesses to access ultra-fast broadband and full wireless coverage across its city centre.

Director of NG Events and organiser of Intelligent Cities 2013, Marit Hendriks said, “The conference agenda includes discussions about the important changes and technological innovations which are being rolled out. From addressing the new innovations in technology in healthcare to creating an information society within a smart city, the agenda is designed to inform businesses on how this transformation to an intelligent city will benefit them.”

The event is at The Rose Bowl, Leeds Metropolitan University and alongside the keynote address; the agenda includes 4G in the UK, health innovation, the smart city and the information society.

“The Intelligent Cities conference will enable us to provide a platform for a more dynamic creative sector and encourage inward investment which can accelerate the digital transformation occurring within the city,” said Lurene Joseph, Chief Executive of Leeds and Partners.

“The availability of ultra-fast connectivity within the city is a major attraction as we demonstrate that we are digitally enabled for businesses and the conference will allow engagement with the stakeholders delivering information and services to support future economic growth within the region across key sectors such as health innovation, financial and professional services and the wider economy.”

The Intelligent Cities conference is a business event and costs £50 plus VAT to attend. Delegates who wish to register for this event can do so here:
