IntelliNet Technologies Announces the Diameter Routing Engine™, a Carrier-Class Suite of Diameter Signaling Solutions

Melbourne, FL – February 6, 2012 – IntelliNet Technologies, a leading provider of wireless signaling solutions, announced today that is extended its Diameter Routing Agent (DRA) with the addition of the Diameter Edge Agent (DEA), Subscriber Location Function (SLF) and Interworking Function (IWF) as defined by the 3GPP, IETF and GSMA standards bodies. The product suite has been branded the Diameter Routing Engine™.

Almost all wireless networks are converging on the Long Term Evolution (LTE) standard with its flat, all-IP architecture. At the same time the unprecedented growth in data usage is causing an explosion in signaling traffic. This has given rise to a new class of product referred to as a Diameter Signaling Controller (DSC) that addresses the growth and expected congestion in signaling traffic by efficiently routing signaling information. IntelliNet’s Diameter Routing Engine™ provides load balancing, roaming and interworking with legacy networks. It can be configured to the operator’s exact requirements.

“IntelliNet recently sold off its data offload business including its Wi-Fi Offload Gateway and Femtocell Gateway,” said Anjan Ghosal, IntelliNet’s president and CEO. “We have refocused the company in the Diameter signaling area that has become very important to LTE network operators.”

There are many network elements that need to interconnect using Diameter in Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) networks as well as interconnection to legacy networks. If there are multiple instances of the Diameter clients and servers then this results in a mesh of connections that are difficult to scale and manage. The DSC is deployed at the network core in a configuration that routes the signals through a hub rather than a mesh network.

“IntelliNet will have a team at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona”, added Mr. Ghosal. “We look forward to presenting our solution to network operators, network equipment providers and hosted service providers.”
