Irdeto Leverages StormTest to Enhance Multi-Site Automated Testing Capabilities

Global software and media technology company expands relationship with S3 Group by licensing set-top box testing solution

CHICAGO (The Cable Show 2011) – 13 June, 2011 S3 Group, a global provider of technology, solutions and services for the digital TV market, today announced Irdeto has chosen S3 Group’s automated testing solution to support its global footprint. The deployment marks the first enterprise-wide licensing of S3 Group’s StormTest Development Center, which has been in use at Irdeto regional facilities for the past two years, and now has been rolled out throughout Irdeto’s global operation.

Irdeto, a global software security and media technology company, conducted rigorous market and technology analysis prior to choosing StormTest Development Center as the platform for end-to-end testing of different features on multiple varieties of set-top boxes (STBs). The company chose to expand with S3 Group due to its robust and reliable testing capabilities and multi-site support for engineers located in different countries.

“StormTest Development Center was a natural choice for Irdeto. With our stringent requirements for security and reliability, it was important to us to choose a product that was as robust as our solution and scaled to handle multiple sites seamlessly,” said Rory O’Connor, Vice President of Services for Irdeto.  “From support to services, the S3 Group team has been a true partner to work with throughout the ongoing deployment process.”

“We’re delighted that Irdeto has chosen S3 Group for its global automating testing needs.  Their requirements, such as access to testing facilities across multiple sites, were quite extensive, but we were able to deliver on these demands since StormTest Development Center was designed from the ground up to handle enterprise-wide testing,” said Ian Harris, director of product management at S3 Group.  “With it, Irdeto was easily able to extend the system to integrate with their back-end, giving them end-to-end testing and control.”

StormTest Development Center has been chosen by more than 20 of the world’s leading digital TV operators and vendors.  It allows automated testing to be carried out efficiently and effectively while multiplying the amount of testing carried out on interactive applications, embedded firmware and digital TV solutions.  The solution boasts enterprise features such as centralized resource management, where testing slots can be pooled across systems and sites, as well as centralized reporting and results management,
