Jibe Debuts RCS Hub Connecting Rich Communications Services Worldwide at Mobile World Congress

— Tier 1 European Carriers Lead Interconnection on Jibe’s Hub for RCS Video Calling, Group Chat, and Sharing Services throughout Europe

BARCELONA and MOUNTAIN VIEW, California, Feb. 20, 2014 –  Jibe Mobile, the global communications cloud company, today announced that Jibe’s RCS Hub is now available for interconnecting carrier RCS and joyn services throughout the world and will be showcased at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Deutsche Telekom and other multi-national carriers are deploying RCS services hosted by Jibe in European markets and are benefiting from the fast, efficient roll-out and interconnection via Jibe’s RCS Hub to other European carriers.

Jibe’s RCS Hub addresses the challenge facing the telecom industry, how to quickly connect and interconnect carriers with established RCS communications services — hosted or in-network, IMS or pre-IMS networks — to deliver the most innovative IP communications services such as video calling, group chat, and sharing of video, photos, and location to the world’s more than 6 billion mobile subscribers as part of their everyday experience.

“Jibe’s RCS Cloud and Hub were developed to enable the rapid transition to a globally connected IP mobile network able to deliver the most innovative and engaging communication services to subscribers as part of their phone experience,” said Amir Sarhangi, co-founder and CEO of Jibe Mobile. “Interconnection of RCS services between carriers both regionally and internationally is fundamental to connecting mobile subscribers around the world beyond simple voice and SMS to easily video call, group chat and share their favorite videos, photos and files as part of their everyday conversations with any friends over any mobile network. Deutsche Telekom’s decision to adopt the Jibe RCS Hub is a significant step forward in simplifying and speeding up IP Communication interworking momentum between carriers and their subscribers throughout Europe.”

“Deutsche Telekom has been a supporter of RCS and joyn from day one, and we are now expanding these rich communications services using the Jibe Communications Cloud and RCS Hub, as well as inviting carriers throughout Europe to join us in enabling these important services for their customers.” Kobus Smit, Head of Voice and Messaging, Deutsche Telekom and GSMA RCE Chair. “We have found a hosted service model to be particularly well suited to some of our markets and Jibe Mobile is a key partner for Deutsche Telekom in delivering these services in these countries.”

Jibe’s end-to-end Global IP Communications Cloud helps to eliminate technology fragmentation both within and across mobile carriers. Jibe’s Private Cloud allows carriers to rapidly launch cost-effective RCS services to their subscribers, and Jibe’s Public Cloud provides access to RCS services to all of a subscriber’s friends — closing a gap that may exist from a carrier not supporting RCS services in a specific region. Jibe’s Cloud also includes optional ‘white label IP clients’ providing the interface to Android and iOS mobile consumers, and enhancing their everyday mobile experience to include video call, group chat, and media-file sharing.

Jibe RCS Hub Demonstration by Deutsche Telekom and other carriers
There will be a demonstration of this capability, the world’s first international interconnected service using Jibe’s RCS Hub at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain in Deutsche Telekom’s partner stand 3K30, Orange stand 5A61 and featured in the GSMA Connected City, Hall 3, Fira Gran Via.

About Jibe’s RCS Hub
Jibe’s RCS Hub is a carrier-grade interconnection platform that provides access to the global community of RCS and joyn carriers via a single interconnection. Instead of each carrier building a complex web of interconnections directly against their own network, a single connection to Jibe’s RCS Hub gives carriers access to all other Hub-connected carriers.

The Jibe RCS Hub reduces both the technical complexity of interconnection and the level of fragmentation across the telecommunications industry, resulting in significantly reduced cost & time-to-market for carriers. A single, standards-based connection from a carrier to Jibe’s RCS Hub supports interconnectivity with any other Hub-connected carrier.

  • Instant Jibe Connection. Jibe’s Public Cloud and Private Cloud customers are automatically integrated into Jibe’s Hub allowing for a simple and easy interconnection with other carriers adopting RCS.
  • Enhanced Interconnection for IMS carriers. Jibe’s RCS Hub enhances connections between traditional IMS-based RCS platforms, making interconnection easier, faster and more affordable.
  • Harmonized traffic. Jibe’s RCS Hub filters and normalizes traffic between MNOs to ensure compatibility and high level-of-service between carriers with different configurations.
  • RCS Version Support. Carriers connecting to Jibe’s RCS Hub are delivering services based on a mix of RCS versions. The Hub supports interworking of compatible features between all current versions of RCS.
  • Flexible Routing Logic. The RCS Hub offers smart routing to flexibly connect traffic between connected networks based on carrier-defined routing rules.
