Joe Rostock Joins ATIS as Vice President-Chief Technologist

Washington, DC ATIS is excited to announce that Joseph Rostock will join ATIS as Vice President-Chief Technologist, a new role for the association. As a 25-year information technology and communications veteran, Rostock brings both deep technology expertise and broad management skills to ATIS, where he will work closely with members on pressing technical and operational issues facing the ICT industry.

“Joe’s extensive technical expertise will enable ATIS to work directly with our members in evaluating new technologies and opportunities. Additionally, Joe’s experience as a business strategist will help accelerate the development of standards to meet the demands generated by the next generation of communications networks,” said Susan Miller, ATIS President and CEO. “With vision and experience, Joe is the ideal candidate to fill this new position.”

Prior to joining ATIS, Rostock was Executive Director and Senior Fellow at Verizon Communications, where he led a strategy and planning team to structure the company’s future direction in new cloud technology offerings as well as internal change initiatives. He also oversaw teams working on large IT and business transformation programs at Verizon, and spearheaded the deployment of Bell Atlantic’s first voice over Internet protocol (VOIP) network. Rostock will start at ATIS on October 17th.

ATIS conducted a comprehensive search to select Rostock, who will help identify key business and technological priorities for ATIS. Rostock’s experience of overseeing large IT projects at Verizon will help support ATIS’ growth in burgeoning areas, including cloud and machine-to-machine services. He also will oversee ATIS’ organization of technical and operational committees and focus groups that facilitate the development and implementation of market-driven standards and solutions.

“I’m looking forward to my new role at ATIS and working with the top technologists in the communications industry,” Rostock said. “ATIS is at the forefront of ensuring the interoperability of new communication technologies and developing business solutions that help lead to new products and services.”
