JSC Fortex Deploys ADVA 100G Metro Throughout Moscow Network

Plug-and-Play Simplicity Key to ADVA Optical Networking’s Success

Moscow, Russia. October 1, 2013. ADVA Optical Networking announced today that JSC Fortex has deployed its 100G Metro throughout Moscow and the surrounding regions. With a network covering over 3,000km of fiber, JSC Fortex is using the ADVA 100G Metro primarily to upgrade existing 10G services and prepare for increased bandwidth demand from its mix of business and residential customers. The ADVA 100G Metro was specifically selected by JSC Fortex because of its plug-and-play simplicity, especially when upgrading existing services. Installed by IT integrators, Connect Unit, JSC Fortex expects to make further deployments of the ADVA 100G Metro throughout 2013.

“There’s a common thread for all of our customers, one common denominator and that’s bandwidth. Enterprise customers, residential customers, the demand for greater data access continues to surge,” said Andrey Varslavan, CTO, JSC Fortex.

“What’s key for us is speed of response, speed of meeting our customers’ demands. We need to ensure that we have the solution they need, when they need it. This is what’s so special about the ADVA 100G Metro. We were able to plug this into our network and immediately upgrade current 10G services. The experience was seamless.”

Fully integrated into the ADVA FSP 3000, ADVA Optical Networking’s 100G Metro solution is built on 4x28G direct detection technology delivering four key efficiencies: cost, space, power and spectral. These efficiencies are critical for service providers and enterprises that want to deploy 100G solutions in the metro environment, but do not want the associated cost or footprint of coherent technology. ADVA Optical Networking’s 100G Metro solution is a direct response to customers’ demands for efficient 100Gbit/s data transport across distances of up to 500km.

“When talking to our customers, one thing is very clear. They want simplicity. They want ease of use. They want plug and play,” commented Stephan Rettenberger, vice president, Marketing, ADVA Optical Networking. “This is why our ADVA 100G Metro is proving so popular within the industry. For JSC Fortex, this simplicity was critical in upgrading its current 10G services. With an incredibly diverse range of business and residential customers, JSC Fortex couldn’t risk any downtime, any costly delays with this upgrade.”
