Mobile 360 Africa, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, 11-13 July 2017
Mobile 360 Africa gathers leaders across Sub-Saharan Africa to evaluate digital access and inclusion, network coverage and customers’ quality of experience.
This year’s event brought over 800 attendees together to connect and network with the brightest industry leaders from across Sub-Saharan Africa. The three-day event focused on the central role of mobile technology in driving digital services in Africa. Presentations and panel discussions highlighted the positive impact of mobile-enabled solutions on individuals and communities. They also stressed the need for greater collaboration between stakeholders – governments, mobile operators, other ecosystem players, the private sector and development agencies – to enhance access to connectivity and sustain the delivery of life-enhancing services to underserved populations across the region.

Cyber security not a priority for most sectors, despite breaches costing UK firms £29 billion in 2016
Over the last few years, cyber security has been propelled to the forefront of the public eye. With cyber-attacks/breaches becoming more prevalent and severe than ever before, it’s a highly concerning issue. In fact, research by Beaming shockingly revealed that 2.9 million UK firms suffered cyber security breaches last year (2016), costing firms an alarming £29.1 billion
With 83% of UK businesses online, the consequences of a cyber-attack/breach can be devastating. According to security professionals consulted by networking hardware company Cisco, operations of an organisation (36%) are most likely to be affected by any potential cyber-attack/breach. After operations finances (30%), brand reputation (26%), customer retention (26%) and intellectual property (24%) are the most affected.

Global digital transformation calls for smart, inclusive and forward looking ICT regulation
The first-ever global report tracking market and regulatory trends in the ICT sector and their implications across economies, Global ICT Regulatory Outlook 2017, has been launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) at its Global Symposium for Regulators taking place in Nassau, Bahamas 11-14 July 2017.
This ICT industry outlook report represents the first in a planned annual series. It tracks how the global digital economy has been shaping up over the past ten years – what impact regulation has had – and what the digital future might look like in the coming years.
