KEYMILE to present the industry’s first encryption card for high-security communications at CeBIT 2016

Hanover, 1 March 2016 – Premiere at CeBIT with KEYMILE presenting the industry’s first solution for highly secure end-to-end encryption of communications networks belonging to operators of critical infrastructures. KEYMILE’s hybrid XMC20 multi-service access and transport platform with a new encryption card is the only way of making communications networks exceptionally secure in the long term without risking availability. The card encrypts all the network traffic at layer 2, uses a hardware-based quantum random number generator and is redundant in design.

At this year’s CeBIT from 14 to 18 March 2016 in Hanover, KEYMILE will be one of the exhibitors at the Bitkom hub in hall 4, stand B72. KEYMILE will be on hand to showcase its XMC20 hybrid multi-service access and transmission platform, including the new encryption card for very secure communications. This encryption card makes KEYMILE the first supplier to offer a cost-efficient solution that’s quick to implement for end-to-end encryption in mission-critical networks.

The card encrypts data used to monitor and control networks belonging to energy utilities, railway companies, gas and oil pipelines, local authorities and for air-traffic control and defence purposes. The solution is tailored to these sectors’ needs, is easy to operate, highly efficient and can be integrated into an existing network without making any changes in the infrastructure.

Fail-safe operation plays a key role in mission-critical networks, so as a board the card has a redundant design. Two separate encryption units are available that use a hardware-based quantum random number generator (QRNG). It harnesses the coincidental quantum states of photons to generate truly random numbers and highly secure keys. The latter are much more secure than previous keys and can provide top security for mission-critical networks in the future too. Furthermore, a Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) server from ID Quantique (IDQ) can be added to the encryption solution. IDQ is a Swiss-based, global supplier of quantum-cryptography solutions. The optional QKD server ensures true long-term protection, even in an era of quantum computers.

The encryption card will be available from this summer.
