Ooredoo Begins its 12th Goodwill Journey

Muscat, Oman

The 2016 Ooredoo Goodwill Journey received a warm send-off from crowds of well-wishers as it set out on its annual 2,000 kilometre mission of care, compassion, and community support. Starting out from Salalah in the Governorate of Dhofar, a team of 22 goodwill ambassadors are now en-route north to stops in the Wilayats of Shlaeem and Hallaniyat Islands, Al Jazir, Mudhiabi, Sur, Bowsher and Qurayyat

Dedicating its resources to ensure sustainable impact, the Ooredoo family members will donate essential equipment, supplies and educational materials, amongst other items, to local organisations and associations to help boost education and entrepreneurship opportunities for women and young people. In addition, the volunteers will hold a variety of events that will celebrate the true spirit of the Holy Month.

“We are exceptionally proud to see this 12th Ooredoo Goodwill Journey begin. The cornerstone of our community engagement and a key event in our annual calendar, it is much admired and well-loved and followed by people across Oman,” said Kumail Al Moosawi, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer at Ooredoo.

“Building on previous Journeys, this year will also see a focus on developing long-term initiatives to support the welfare, well-being and future prosperity of the communities and people at each Willayat we visit, sustainably contributing to their development and progress and helping them enjoy a better tomorrow.”

Since the Ooredoo Goodwill Journey first started in 2004, fasting volunteers have travelled over 53,000 kilometres and visited more than 171 charitable organisations and associations, resulting in more than 10,687 people being directly supported by this initiative.
