Leading Femtocell Manufacturer adopts Polaris Networks’ LTE Test
Solution for testing and validating its Home eNodeB.

Lexington, Massachusetts, March 29, 2011: Polaris Networks, a leader in software test solutions for
Communications and Wireless Networking technologies, today announced that a leading US based
Femtocell manufacturer has selected Polaris’ LTE test tools to test the development of their LTE
Femtocell and to help bring validated small cells for the operators to enhance coverage of their LTE
networks.
Test tools from Polaris Networks provide comprehensive and cost effective means of testing LTE
Access and EPC. The eNB test suite from Polaris comprises of the Functional Tester, which helps
manufacturers of LTE base stations (macro, pico, micro) in validating their implementation to 3GPP
specifications and also do negative testing, in a wrap-around mode. The Emulator tools, on the other
hand, are used for verifying feature implementation by an eNodeB. The Emulators can also be used for
performance testing in an eNodeB load test bed. It exercises the complete EPC, including the Mobile
Management Entity (MME), Home Subscriber Server (HSS), Serving Gateways (SGW) and Packet
Data Network Gateways (PDN-GW), and can create multiple S1-MME connections or data tunnels on
the S1-u interface to load test an eNB. Polaris Networks eNB test tools also support features like
‘Closed Subscriber Group’ (CSG) that are essential when testing Home eNodeBs.
“While LTE aims to provide the speed and latency for users to enjoy bandwidth hungry applications; it
is imperative that along with performance, LTE networks deliver coverage for users to enjoy uninterrupted
and seamless connectivity even at their home. Our partner has consistently met small cell
requirements for 3G Cellular networks. We take pride in pioneering the efforts, alongwith our partner,
in bringing LTE Femtocell that are tested and validated for meeting coverage requirements in LTE
networks.” said Aditya Saraf, VP,Sales and Marketing,Polaris Networks.
