Liberty Global selects Irdeto Rights to secure video services on consumer devices
Irdeto Rights will provide hardened protection for linear and Video-on-Demand content consumed by customers in Europe
AMSTERDAM, 20 May, 2014 – Irdeto, a world leader in Multiscreen, Media Protection and Revenue Assurance solutions, today announced a new deployment of Irdeto Rights with Liberty Global, the world’s largest international cable company. Liberty Global will be using Irdeto Rights to deliver content securely to IP devices. Irdeto Rights provides hardened security on a technology agnostic basis across different DRMs in an increasingly complex ecosystem.
Irdeto was selected to protect linear and VoD content as a managed service through the cloud to IP devices. This over-the-top (OTT) service is available free of charge to consumers when they subscribe to both Liberty Global’s internet and TV packages. The service is now live in Ireland and the Netherlands, with additional countries to follow in the coming months. In addition to this, Irdeto is working with Liberty Global to secure content over IP via the set-top-box video gateway. Liberty Global is the largest international cable company with operations in 14 countries. Liberty Global’s market-leading triple-play services are provided through next-generation networks and innovative technology platforms that connected 25 million customers subscribing to 49 million television, broadband internet and telephony services (Q1 2014).
