M-net Telekommunikations Invests in New Ethernet Platform From Actelis
MUNICH, Germany, April 17, 2012 – Actelis®, The Broadband Acceleration Company™, today announced at Light Reading’s Ethernet Expo Europe (Stand #10) that M-net Telekommunikations GmbH, one of the largest German regional network operators, with its headquarters in Munich, is extending its product portfolio for business customers in the area of Carrier Ethernet broadband services (point-to-point and point-to-multipoint). To realize this, a Service and Frame Contract over the delivery of EFM (EFM in the First Mile) products from Actelis was concluded.
Using EFM solutions from Actelis, M-net will be able to offer high bit rate Ethernet services – at bandwidths of 20Mbps on existing copper pairs and over higher distances – in the areas of Internet access, point-to-point connectivity and VPN networks.
“M-net will offer more Ethernet services with OAM features (Operation, Administration and Maintenance), according to the requirements of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF),” explained Michael Freudenblum, director of central IP-systems at M-net. “We chose the Actelis technology as the best suited technical platform for this purpose. The Actelis solution was introduced many years ago, has excellent references and is commercially convincing. Before introducing the Actelis products, they were tested intensively by M-net and the features and capabilities of the products met the required results.”
M-net intends to establish a long-term partnership for delivery and support with 3M Services, the preferred service partner of Actelis in Germany, according to Manfred Brandt, general manager of 3M Services.
“Our customers have already experienced many years of quality products developed by Actelis. Providers have an alternative to fiber when business customers ask for bandwidths of 10Mbps and more. Actelis’ EFM products offer a very cost-effective and reliable solution over copper pairs in which over 100Mbps via SHDSL can be achieved,” said Brant.
Actelis’ EFMplus™ technology uses the most advanced signal processing methods and DSM (Dynamic Spectrum Management) in order to ensure reliable and highly performing Ethernet services. The Carrier Ethernet technology from Actelis is certified, according to specifications MEF9, MEF10, MEF14 and MEF18.
