Maintel Announces Aquisition of Datapoint

London, England: 13 September 2013 – Maintel, the business-to-business voice, telecoms and data services company, has acquired the UK and Irish operations of the Datapoint group of companies in a £3.5 million cash deal.

The acquisition of Datapoint Customer Solutions Limited, Datapoint Global Services Limited and Datapoint Communications Limited was announced to the London Stock Exchange today, 13 September 2013.

The acquisition brings into the Maintel portfolio enhanced consulting and professional expertise in Unified Communications, with a particular strength in the Contact Centre solutions.  Other offerings include managed services and equipment sales.  The purchase is a key component of Maintel’s strategy to diversify its revenue base and significantly increase its skills and presence in new products and services.

Maintel has an excellent track record of successful acquisitions. Datapoint is the company’s third acquisition in four years, following the purchase of Redstone maintenance assets in 2010 and mobile specialist Totility in 2011. Both of these have been successfully integrated into the Maintel operation and have driven increased revenue and profits within the group.

Eddie Buxton, Chief Executive of Maintel, says: “It has been our long established goal to acquire a complementary asset to add to our growing base of existing revenues. The acquisition of Datapoint will materially improve the breadth of our product offering and market reach with a strong presence in Ireland, providing  momentum for the next phase of Maintel’s growth. We anticipate the acquisition delivering clear shareholder value over time and expect it to be earnings accretive for its first full year of ownership to December 2014.”

Datapoint employs more than 80 staff in the UK and Ireland, based primarily in Brentford and Dublin.  The company has been established for 45 years and has a highly skilled team  which Maintel will be looking to integrate into its operation, as it has with previous acquisitions.

Eddie Buxton says:  “Maintel has achieved excellent growth over the past five years in an extremely challenging marketplace. This latest acquisition underlines our commitment to become a complete, one-stop business communications service, backed by industry-leading technical skills and customer support.”
