Petah Tikva, Israel, October 5, 2010—Cellebrite, the leading provider of phone to phone content transfer and content backup for mobile retail point-of-sale, has announced the sale of its Universal Memory Exchanger, the UME-36Pro, to one of North Africa’s largest mobile operators.
The UME-36Pro is a stand-alone device for phone to phone content transfer and data backup. It allows customers to transfer their contacts, messages, music, videos, and photos from their existing phone to a new phone, or to backup their content to a USB drive.
Cellebrite’s Co-CEO, Yossi Carmil, attributes the sale to the effectiveness of Cellebrite’s products and proven ability to impact upgrades of new phones and services at the point-of-sale.
Estimating that at least a quarter of all subscribers are dissuaded from upgrading to a new phone when they think it means leaving their data behind, Carmil asserts that mobile operators choose Cellebrite with the confidence that providing fast, secure transfer and backup of data at the point of sale will help drive upgrades of new phones.
“We’re already the chosen in-store data transfer solution for Verizon Wireless, Sprint, T-Mobile, Orange, O2, Apple, Nokia, Turkcell, Telcell, Cingular Wireless, US Cellular, Western Wireless, and other leading providers of the cellular phone industry.”
Carmil adds that entrance into the North African market is nevertheless a huge breakthrough for Cellebrite. “Mobile usage and adoption to new technologies are both very strong in this region. The pilot project will place 50 of our UMEs in 50 key stores but the potential of this market is huge. “
Carmil explains that Cellebrite receives preferential developer access to most new phones months prior to their commercial launch. This allows Cellebrite to ensure compatibility for new phones as they’re introduced to the market. Already known for unrivalled phone coverage, Cellebrite is currently the only phone memory exchanger to support the iPhone 4.
