Managing Thin Clients Efficiently: IGEL Starts Weekly Webinars

Practice-oriented and free: Every Thursday IGEL presents a new Webinar demonstrating best practice for thin client management

Reading, UK November 21, 2011 – IGEL Technology, the German-based, leading manufacturer of thin clients, will be supporting the free evaluation of its IGEL Universal Desktop thin clients with a weekly live webinar covering its remote management software. These webinars, at no charge to participants, will take place every Thursday from 2pm to 2.30pm. The focus of the online presentations will be the fundamentals of managing thin clients with the IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS), which is included free with IGEL devices. The webinars will also be used to answer frequently asked questions arising from the testing of IGEL evaluation units.

There is no charge to participants; all they need to do is complete a brief registration at: http://www.igel.com/en/service-support/ums-webinar.html. The webinars will be conducted live through an Internet browser.

“In these weekly webinars we want to answer the top FAQs arising from working with IGEL evaluation units,” stated Daniel Proetel, Team Leader PreSales, Consulting & Training. “In doing so, we will use live demonstrations and best-practice examples drawn from our own consulting work. In this way, we intend to communicate all the essential information to webinar participants in an efficient and effective way.”

Universal Thin Client Management – It Comes Standard with IGEL
The IGEL Universal Management Suite (UMS) discussed in these webinars comes standard with all IGEL Universal Desktop models and provides the basis for implementing standardized, flexible thin client management. The IGEL UMS can be used to manage both current and earlier IGEL models. In addition, it can be used to manage PCs and certain thin client models made by other manufacturers, after they have been converted to operate as logical, de facto IGEL thin clients by means of the IGEL Universal Desktop Converter (UDC), allowing their continued, now-integrated use with minimum management and support costs. With its profile-based device-management system and its platform-independent graphical management console, the IGEL UMS sets new standards for managing modern thin clients. What is more, the IGEL UMS even allows large thin client environments with a vast variety of possible configurations to also be quickly, easily and securely managed over WANs. In keeping with IGEL’s philosophy of promoting universal applicability, the IGEL UMS also works with a wide range of operating systems, databases and directory services such as Microsoft Active Directory, making it easy to integrate into any existing environment.
