MDSL expands in Asia – opens new office in Hong Kong

by david.nunes

25 May 2011 – London, New York, Paris, Tokyo and Hong Kong – MDSL, the leading provider of international Market Data Management (MDM) and Telecom Expense Management (TEM) solutions, today announced the expansion of its APAC operations with the opening of a new office in Hong Kong. Simon Dambe moves to Hong Kong as Chief Operating Officer (Hong Kong) to manage MDSL’s office and oversee the company’s growth in the region.

Simon will be dealing with the increased customer demand for MDSL’s award-winning expense management software and solutions across the whole of the Asian market, including China and India. The rapid expansion of the Chinese and Indian markets in general, and the telecommunications sector in particular, is a central element of MDSL’s strategy for future growth.

Simon Dambe joined MDSL in 2006 and has led a range of successful client projects across a number of different parts of the business. Most recently he has worked in the Development Team alongside Chief Technical Officer Simon Mendoza, implementing best practice and driving efficiencies through a period of rapid team expansion.

Simon graduated from Oxford University with a BA in Mathematics and Philosophy. He began his career in banking auditing with Deloitte London and has spent time travelling in China, where he learned Mandarin Chinese and developed a strong interest in the region. Simon will be moving to Hong Kong in July 2011 to set up the new MDSL office.

Ben Mendoza, CEO of MDSL, said: “This is an affirmation of MDSL’s ongoing commitment to our customers in Asia with what is now our third office in the region, and marks a significant step forward in our expansion plans. Both China and India have recently benefited from dramatic growth in both the market data and the telecoms markets, but with that growth comes greater complexity and increased need for the requisite management control – something which, with our new offices in Hong Kong, MDSL is well placed to provide.

He continued: “We have achieved impressive growth – as was recognised last week by The Sunday Times in their International Track-100 report, where we were ranked in the Top-25 companies. MDSL’s global coverage is a central element of our success, but that success is also built on the creativity of our staff and their contribution to our development. I am delighted to see Simon progressing his career as COO of our new Hong Kong operation, and we look forward to working with him to further expand MDSL’s presence in the region”.

Simon Dambe added: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to help MDSL grow its telecommunications and market data services across the whole of Asia, at such an exciting time for both the region and the company. I am looking forward to helping MDSL grow quickly and – more importantly – build its market-share in some of the most rapidly advancing economies of the world today”.
