- Totalplay selects MediaKind Encoding Live to evolve its television services by migrating to a virtualized, cloud-based video processing solution
- Unlocks more immersive media experiences with ability to expand services in future, while reducing operational costs
MediaKind, a global media technology leader, today announces Totalplay will deploy its Encoding Live video processing solution to support a smooth migration to the cloud and enable the delivery of its IPTV pay-TV content in Mexico. The new virtualized solution enables Totalplay to deliver next generation immersive TV services to its subscribers now and in the future.
Designed for the highest quality and efficiency, MediaKind’s Encoding Live solution helps operators make the most efficient use of network resources, while opening up new revenue streams for delivering immersive media experiences through any format including 4K/UHD. By deploying Encoding Live, Totalplay is able to engage its customers with compelling content, while optimizing operational costs by leveraging containers and orchestration to reduce infrastructure costs.
Julio Trejo, IPTV Director, Totalplay, said: “We set out to engage our customers in Mexico by providing smart television services with high-quality content. Migrating to cloud architectures is vital for the future as our viewers increasingly demand to be immersed in a wider range of content, including HD services. Deploying MediaKind’s Encoding Live solution enables us to respond to these changes easily, quickly and cost-effectively.”
Totalplay is a longstanding MediaKind customer, having previously deployed the company’s IPTV encoders to enable live content and VOD services in several formats like CBR SD/HD, ABR and 4K across 20 Mexican cities. This latest deployment will ensure Totalplay has a smooth and cost-effective transition to the cloud, utilizing current MediaKind video processing software licenses from its existing solution and applying them to a cloud agnostic model.
Clayton Cruz, SVP Latin American Sales, MediaKind, said: “As consumers continue to expect high quality content on their own terms, the media industry must shift its focus towards cloud-based services that deliver their content reliably and efficiently. Our Encoding Live solution leverages the power of the cloud to reduce costs and enable operators to deliver the highest video quality and media experiences for viewers. We are delighted to extend our partnership with Totalplay and give them the unique ability to repurpose existing hardware and software licenses, while migrating to IP-based solutions that leave them safe in the knowledge that their infrastructure is future-proof.”
The solution is currently in its deployment phase and is due to go live in September 2018.
