Test equipment specialist announces sponsorship of major UK new business competition

Harrow, UK: November 2011: Microlease, the leading test equipment rental and asset management organisation, is furthering its commitment to fostering innovation in the wireless technologies and networking industry though its sponsorship of the Discovering Start-Ups 2011 competition from Cambridge Wireless.

The contest provides ambitious new tech start-ups, inventors and budding entrepreneurs in the industry with the opportunity to pitch to leading venture capitalists, angels and industry investors. Representatives from leading industry names including Microsoft, RIM, Nokia, Vodafone Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Innovacom, Broadcom, Orange and ARM will evaluate the entries and provide expert advice and feedback.

The most successful entrants, to be announced at the Cambridge Wireless prestigious Founders’ Dinner Awards Ceremony on 8 December, will be awarded cash prizes as well as free business and consultancy services.

“We got great feedback from world class investors and industry leaders on our mobile apps business model and it opened several doors for us to promote our latest app Free App Magic worldwide,” said Emmanuel Carraud, CEO of MagicSolver, one of the winners of Discovering Start-Ups 2010.

“The annual Discovering Start-Ups competition provides a fantastic opportunity for new and innovative technology businesses to showcase their work and receive valuable feedback from industry mentors,” said Microlease CEO, Nigel Brown.

“We have pledged our full support to the initiative, which aligns with our own commitment to providing start-ups with flexible financing options to help them access electronic test equipment, keep a manageable balance sheet and grow profitability.”
