BMT Group Ltd announced today that Professor Minoo Patel has joined the Board of Directors as a non-executive Director. Minoo brings a wealth of offshore and subsea engineering expertise and knowledge to the Board.  He is currently a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Director of Development in the School of Engineering at Cranfield University.

On his appointment Minoo says: “To join an organisation like BMT is a great privilege.  Its dedication to delivering innovative solutions within the maritime engineering environment is second to none, and it is very exciting to be in a position to directly support the future success of the business.”

Minoo started his career as an aerodynamicist following a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering and a PhD in unsteady boundary layers.  He subsequently worked on the determination of aerodynamic gust loads on aircraft wings before opting for a change of career to offshore mechanics, where he devised and patented combined air/water flotation systems for enhancing the performance of floating offshore platforms. With over 110 research papers, two books and eight patents to his name, Minoo is well respected within the offshore engineering industry.  He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, an independent Director of Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd, a Director of BPP Technical Services Ltd and a non-executive Director of Cranfield Aerospace Ltd.

Neil Cross, Chairman of BMT says: “We are very pleased to welcome Minoo to the Board.  Minoo brings outstanding technical expertise which will be a great asset to the company as we continue to grow and develop.  We look forward to working closely with him.”
