MMA East Africa Supports New Events for 2012

Mobile Marketing and CEO, CMO and DG Summits guide and promote mobile opportunity for marketers

Nairobi: 25 November 2011 – The Mobile Marketing Association’s (MMA) local council for East Africa today announced that it would be endorsing two educational industry events for 2012. The CEO, CMO and DG Summit and Mobile Marketing Summit will take place in Nairobi on March 13th and 14th 2012, featuring a range of local and international marketing experts, discussing the next steps for the continued creation of a successful ecosystem and demonstrating engagement marketing best practices.

One year on from the successful launch of the East African MMA Council, the events support the MMA’s five building blocks to promote, educate, measure, guide and protect the mobile marketing industry worldwide. The CEO, CMO and DG Summit will focus on the establishment of mobile as a professional marketing medium, identifying the critical success factors required, addressing stakeholder concerns and converging opinion on the next steps needed to move the industry on. The Mobile Marketing Summit will concentrate on the best practices required for campaign implementation, creating a forum in which all stake holders can share and discuss the golden rules of engagement, tips and tricks and the innovative offerings and campaigns which stimulate response via mobile.

“The progress that we have made during the first year of MMA East Africa has clearly demonstrated the growing importance of mobile marketing in the region, and the need for guidance to further build the market opportunity for all concerned,” said Frank Maina, co-Chairman of MMA East Africa and CEO of mobile agency Sponge East Africa. “Last year’s Mobile Marketing Summit and the other launch events were a great success and we’re looking forward to developing that with the next iteration of both this conference and the introduction of the CEO, CMO and DG Summit.”

“A revolution is going on in East Africa, and that is in mobile technology as evidenced by the reach and influence of this media. We are confident there will be more uptake from brands in the area of mobile marketing, and also from our government agencies in the region. The MMA East Africa events for 2012 will serve to share expertise and knowledge from local and international experts and to showcase  many innovative campaigns,” commented leading Kenyan entrepreneur and fellow co-Chair Chris Kirubi.
