MIRAMAR, Fla. – Sept. 22, 2010 – (Marine NewsWire) MTN Satellite Communications (MTN), the leading global provider of communications, connectivity, and content services to remote locations around the world, today announced a major addition to its popular MTN Worldwide TV service, which broadcasts live programming to cruise ships at sea.

“Paul Gauguin Cruises chose MTN Worldwide TV to provide our guests with news options that fit their personal preference and the addition of E! fits in nicely with the other programming,” said Bradford Smith, IT director for Paul Gauguin Cruises. “MTN is a key business partner for us and we are always excited to hear about the new products and services they offer to help us enhance the guest experience.”

E! Entertainment Television is a wholly owned subsidiary of Comcast Corporation and is based in Los Angeles, Calif. with an audience reach of 169 million cable and satellite viewers globally.

“MTN is the only provider that can truly deliver the global, reliable connectivity to reach our audience where we never thought possible – at sea,” said Jene Elzie, vice president, international sales and strategic planning, Comcast International Media Group.

“We have concluded our agreement with E! Entertainment Television to add its popular entertainment package to our MTN Worldwide TV service, which enhances our current lineup of worldwide programming from six major U.S. and international networks,” said Brent Horwitz, senior vice president, MTN cruise and ferry services. “Since introducing MTN Worldwide TV earlier this year, market response from the cruise industry has been amazingly strong. We already have more than 40 ships with over 32,000 passenger cabins under contract and we are working to develop additional options such as foreign languages primarily spoken by crew.”

MTN Worldwide TV uses three overlapping satellite beams to deliver programming from BBC World News, CNBC, MSNBC, Fox News, Sky News and Sky Sports News to passengers cruising anywhere in the world. MTN also provides special events broadcasts to the cruise industry.

Cruise lines also subscribing to MTN Worldwide TV include Azamara Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Fred.Olsen Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Lines, Princess Cruises, and Silversea Cruises.
